Xbox GamePass It has been described as the Netflix of video games. However, one of the elements that breaks this comparison is that the Microsoft service does not have a family plan. Fortunately, a new report indicates that this will change, and Game Pass would have a family plan in the future.
According to Windows Central, who have seen private information, Xbox is already working to implement a family plan on Game Pass. With this special subscription, up to five people will be able to access hundreds of games. Although details regarding its price are scarce, it has been mentioned that the family plan will cost less than five individual subscriptions to this service.
However, Xbox is not yet ready to reveal this new plan. According to the media, the distribution of royalties and how third-party publisher licenses would be compensated for users who opt for this option still need to be resolved. With this, it is unknown if the family plan will be exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimateor if the normal version and the PC version will also have access to this subscription.
Let’s remember that services such as Nintendo Switch Online, Netflix, Disney + and more services already have a family plan. It will be interesting to see if in the future, PlayStation also decides to opt for this additional subscription. On related topics, Resident Evil Village it will not come to Xbox Game Pass. Similarly, this is what Xbox paid to carry Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy to GamePass.
Editor’s note:
A family plan for Xbox Game Pass sounds great. Sure, we still need to see how expensive the subscription will be, and I doubt it will reach the $100 Switch Online costs per year with multiple people involved, but this will surely be the way many finally give this service a chance.
