During his message, DeSantis criticized the Joe Biden government for allegedly “opening the southern border of the United States” and allowing the entry of “millions of foreigners illegally” and drugs, such as fentanyl, into the country.
“We are going to close the border, build the border wall and hold the drug cartels accountable,” said the governor of Florida, who two weeks ago enacted one of the harshest laws against the undocumented migrant population in the United States.
“We must return normality to our communities. The United States is a sovereign country. Our borders must be respected. We cannot have foreigners entering our country illegally by the millions, we cannot allow drug cartels to poison our population with fentanyl.” said the governor of Florida in his message.
Also, he said that his economic measures, such as his plan to reduce inflation, had “hurt average American families”, so he would reverse them if he reached the White House. “We will build an economy where working-class Americans can achieve
“The federal government is making it more difficult for American families to have and maintain a middle-class lifestyle.”
Declared an enemy of left-wing ideologies, DeSantis, 44, as a cover letter for this campaign, has signed a series of ultra-conservative measures that were approved in the last session of the state congress, with a Republican majority.
“We must restore the sanity of our nation,” said the Republican. “This means replacing the mentality virus woke with lasting facts and principles”.
The governor also had words against former President Donald Trump, the rival to beat in the Republican Party to reach the ballot in November 2024.
“Government is not entertainment, it’s not about building a personal brand or pointing out virtues. It’s about getting results,” DeSantis said, referring to the former president, though he did not mention his name.
