After leaks from Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar did not sit idly by. As is customary, the company took action on the matter, and his measures went beyond simply removing some videos from YouTube.
Over the past few hours, all users on sites like GTAForums and the GTA subreddit have witnessed these groups being temporarily shut down. In the first case, a statement was issued where, due to leaks, all material related to GTA VI would be removed at the request of Take-Two:
“Take-Two Interactive contacted us to remove copyrighted material from GTAForums. As usual with previous games, we will be complying and this topic will be reopened in due course. Thank you for understanding”.
For its part, a similar story was experienced on the GTA subreddit. First, the site was inaccessible for a couple of hours. Once the public had access again, all material related to GTA VI had disappearedand in its place was a message asking the public not to share this leak:
“We are opening the subreddit on the condition that no one can post links, photos and videos of recent leaks. This is done to protect the subreddit from being deleted by Rockstar Games. However, we will allow leak-related discussions without attaching the leaks. We do not allow comments that have download links to the leak.”
With this, Rockstar continues to do its best to remove as many videos from GTA VI as possible. However, and as you probably already know, once something reaches the internet, it is impossible for it to stop being available to the public. On related topics, Rockstar has issued a statement on this case. Similarly, Neil Druckmann sends a message of support to developers.
Editor’s note:
Rockstar is in a difficult situation. Although the videos have most likely already been viewed by thousands of people, the company needs to slow down their flow so that conversations about the leak will wane over time.
