In April, Sony received design-build certification for what appears to be a new model in the ‘CFI-1200’ series of the PS5. Now, a new report indicates that the company has obtained design certification from the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, ensuring that radio and wireless communication equipment meets technical standards. In this way, we speak of only internal modifications.
This is not the first time something like this has happened. The PS5 hit the market with the CFI-1XXX model, while the hardware was revised in 2021, now using the CFI-11XX scheme. Along with this, last year a rumor emerged stating that Sony would start production on a PS5 redesign in 2022which would have a 6nm CPU and a “new semi-custom” from AMD.
Although it has been mentioned that the production of this new model will start between the second and third of this year, these are still only rumors, and at the moment there is no official information. Despite rumors of a PS5 Pro for the future, it seems that Sony is only focused on improving the components of the consolein order to make them easier to produce.
On related topics, here’s what a PS5 Pro would look to introduce. Similarly, Sony isn’t worried about losing PS Plus subscribers.
Editor’s note:
The key to winning this generation, or at least getting the upper hand in the early years, is production. We’ve already seen how Xbox has begun to outperform PlayStation in various regions, and it’s all down to the availability of the Series X|S, something the PS5 continues to struggle with.
