Jan Stryjak, Research Lead at Counterpoint noted, “It’s really gone from strength to strength in Europe. It entered the market in June 2019 and quickly found favor for its “flagship killer” approach, offering high-spec devices at competitive prices.” However, in the case of Mexico the brand has had to contend with a saturated market.
Another of the markets where the company has been well received has been India, where IDC pointed out that after Xiaomi this other company was the most relevant in 2022, in terms of growth.
According to the latest report from the consultancy The Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU), the best-selling smartphone brand in Mexico is Samsung, with a market share of 31.6%. This is followed by Motorola, with 22.9%, and Apple, with 13.0%. This means that, after three years of remaining among the best-selling brands in the country, Huawei left the top 3 and maintains a 11.3% presence.
In addition, some Chinese companies are now emerging, among them Xiaomi, which already has 7.1% of the national market and after the departure of LG, in 2021, managed to increase 2.8 percentage points. They are followed by the South Korean company LG with 3.4%, Alcatel with 2.4%, Oppo with 1.9% and ZTE with 1.4% of the national market.
