The legacy of quake 2
quake 2 was developed by Software ID and released in 1997. Although it is considered a sequel, it departs from mythical-medieval settings and delves into science fiction. The game tells the story of the Strogg, an alien race that invades the Earth in search of energy sources such as water, fuel and minerals. The main player controls a Marine who is sent to the alien planet to counterattack them.
The video game was developed by a team of just 13 people led by Adrian Carmack. It has been ported to a good number of consoles and operating systems. From the version for Nintendo 64, for Playstation, Mac, Linux and even the now defunct BeOS. More recently there have been versions for Xbox 360 and now this remaster.
Dozens of mods have also been released. But above all, its engine has been used to create other video games such as Alien Arena, WITHOUT either Heretic II.
