The 4T attacked the Washington Post after having pointed out the destruction of the pieces found in sections of the Mayan Train.
The complaint was made in the American newspaper by Kevin Sieff and Whitney Leaming, after obtaining information from the INAH.
He also accused the 4T on the “editorialization of the lie”, with which he also denounced opponents of the journalistic field.
Today, during the press conference “La Mañanera”, the representative of the Fourth Transformation (4T) in the section “Who is who in the lies of the week”, Elizabeth García Vilchis, presented some of the data published by media that are questioningly “false” regarding the construction of the Mayan Train, accusing the Washington Post and some opponents of “editorializing” the lie as a source.
Likewise, he attacked Carlos Loret de Mola, Ciro Gómez Leyva and Ciro Murayama for allegedly misinforming about the Electoral Reform.
They even presented audios and videos where some of these “opposition leaders”, as they have been referred to, pointed out the inconsistencies of the latter. This is what Carlos Loret de Mola said:
“López Obrador wants to take over the INE, he wants to be the one who determines who will be the next president of Mexico and not the citizens, other than us. Then, the Electoral Reform of López Obrador, the reform of the Constitution was hit. The opposition alliance revived, PAN, PRI, PRD, together again, they hit with MC too, they hit López Obrador’s Electoral Reform, but, later, López Obrador already had his Plan B, which hits INE anyway ” .
4T denies Was4T Washington Posthington Post for destruction of archaeological treasures in Mayan Train
The official shared, after this presentation, the report made by The Washington Post entitled “Destroying Maya Treasures to build a tourist train”, which according to García Vilchis, told a partial or incomplete history.
“The American newspaper The Washington Post asked, through its correspondent Kevin Sieff, to document the field work of the INAH on the Mayan Train, which happened, since the INAH provided information on the excavation fronts, on the investigation processes, linking to the archaeological rescue in the Mayan Train, all the facilities. Six months later, The Washington Post published a story with the headline ‘Destroying Mayan treasures to build a tourist train’”.
Elizabeth García Vilchis pointed out that much of what is mentioned in the text is incomplete or outright false information, and also accused the correspondent and the newspaper of falsifying statements and omitting important information, in addition to “revealing a partial, tendentious and prejudiced position that without consideration, it disqualifies the hard work carried out by professionals of recognized trajectory and prestige in their field of knowledge”.
García Vilchis pointed out that none of its sections has stopped innovating and guaranteeing the preservation of the archaeological heritage, noting that valuable information has also been recovered and great finds have been obtained that have been safeguarded by protection techniques from the archeology team of the INAH.
The focus of the 4T, according to the official, is that these archaeological pieces can be studied in the future with state-of-the-art technology, pointing out that the Mayan Train project has been the first to systematically implement conservation on site of the archaeological pieces, with which they have preserved 1,090 monuments.
