From time to time rumors reappear a possible sale of CD Projekt RED. But, as on previous occasions, the study behind Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher has ruled out that possibility.
This is what he indicated Adam Kiciński, who until December 31 was the CEO of the Polish company. In a recent interview with Parkietthe executive again denied that this possibility is under analysis.
Asked about the recurring comments that place CD Projekt RED as a possible target of an acquisition by another company, the studio’s now head of strategy responded forcefully.
“They are just rumors. We have always had a clear position, also supported by the rules included in the statute [de la compañía]. We are not interested in joining a larger entity. We have been working all our lives for the position we have now. And we believe that in a few years we will be even bigger and stronger. We have ambitious plans and what we do excites us. We value independence,” explained Kiciński.
The former leader of CD Projekt RED confirmed that the studio’s current strategy banishes any possibility of passing into the hands of another company. “Independence is really attractive. It’s a kind of freedom”, he asserted. In this way, he has once again lowered the decibels to speculation that the company could be absorbed by a giant in the gaming.
CD Projekt RED focuses on its next games and once again rules out a sale
As we indicated at the beginning, this is not the first time that the creators of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 They must deny a possible sale. In May 2022, it was rumored that the Polish firm was in the crosshairs of Sony, which supposedly aspired to add it to the ranks of PlayStation Studios. But Adam Kiciński himself had to come out to clarify that it was not true.
“CD Projekt RED is not for sale. We want to remain independent. I think we have an excellent strategy. It’s not easy to execute, of course, but it’s very exciting to follow our own path. So it’s nothing more than a rumor,” he clarified at the time.
In addition to ruling out any possibility of his company being acquired, Kiciński denied that he is planning to buy other studios to add them to his orbit. CD Projekt RED’s new head of strategy explained to Parkiet that, although they do not close the door to investments that help strengthen their strategy, they do not aspire to absorb smaller developers just for the sake of it.
“We are not interested in purchases that only aim to incorporate the acquired companies into our group and consolidate their financial results. We do not see any value in that.”

Regarding the development of his video games, the former CEO of CD Projekt RED confirmed that the vast majority of his resources have been poured into Project Polaristhe next big installment of The Witcher.
In addition, he stressed that this year they plan to accelerate the pace of development of Orionwhich will be set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. While they do not lose sight of two other great proposals based on The Witcher: he remake from the original game, by Fool’s Theory, and Project Siriusa new title based on this universe and directed by The Molasses Flood.
“In short, then, In 2024 we will be developing four great games. Of course, at different stages and with different intensities,” Kiciński remarked. In this way, CD Projekt RED aims to leave its path well marked for the year that has just begun, and to ruin once again any possibility of selling itself to the highest bidder.
