How much advertising will Prime Video insert into its series and movies?
Amazon confirmed that its goal is have “significantly fewer ads” than broadcast television. Although it did not offer details about the amount, type of advertising or the target content, we could expect it to be similar to what we see in the United States.
The ad-supported Prime Video version debuted on January 29 in the US and includes two types of ads. For Amazon Originals content, Prime Video only shows one minute (2 ads) at the beginningwhile in third-party series or movies it is inserted one ad at the beginning and one more in the middle. The ads are similar to what we see on YouTube and will focus on the region.
For Prime Video users, Mandatory announcements are nothing new. Just remember when Amazon didn't offer an option to skip the trailers that appeared at the beginning of each movie. If you are not interested, just mute the television and wait for your favorite program or movie to load.
Prime Video will begin showing advertising in Mexico starting April 11. Judging by what we see in the United States, the experience is not intrusive, although it could change as time goes by. If something is clear to us, it is that it is not close to open television, which activates 5-minute pauses loaded with advertisements with miraculous medicines or telemarketing products.
