Xiaomi has started the year 2024 stronger than ever. Last week, the Asian corporation announced three mobile phones under the Poco sub-brand: the Poco X6 series, made up of two different devices, and the affordable Poco M6 Pro. Now, the same company is back in the headlines with the Redmi Note 13 series launch in the west. A family of smartphones composed of five different devices ranging from an economical Redmi Note 13 4G to the interesting Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G.
If you want to know everything about the cheapest versions (Redmi Note 13 4G and Redmi Note 13 5G), in Hypertextual We have published a separate article with all the details. In this topic, however, we will focus on the three top models: Redmi Note 13 Pro, Note 13 Pro 5G and Note 13 Pro+ 5G.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro series presents many similarities to the Poco X6 that Xiaomi presented last week. However, although they start from the same base, there are some very clear differences in the approach of both families:
- The Poco series places a little more emphasis on performance – especially visible in the case of the Poco X6 Pro. Likewise, their distribution strategy focuses on online channels, which allows them to further adjust margins and lower the sales price a little more.
- The Redmi series, on the other hand, tips the balance a little more towards aesthetics – with a more attractive color palette, for example – or photography – with higher resolution sensors – and also goes a step further in secondary areas. as the charging speed –where one of the models reaches 120 W–. The marketing strategy also varies. This family is found in conventional channels such as operators or large stores.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro: the model to avoid in the new range
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro is the product to avoid of the three Redmi Note 13 Pro. It shares many elements with the rest of the devices in this family, but, compared to its bigger brother – the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G – there are three key differences:
- The first of them is the processor. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 of the top model is clearly better than the Helio G99 Ultra of the standard Redmi Note 13 Pro.
- The chip change also affects connectivity. While the standard model offers 4G, the top version offers 5G. In 2024 you can live without problems with a 4G network, but the absence of 5G has a certain weight for the future.
- The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G screen reaches a higher maximum brightness level, which is appreciated in harsh environments. It also has more resolution.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G goes on the market for 379 euros in its version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, a price that goes up to 399 for the version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The standard version, on the other hand, is sold for 349 euros in its 8 GB and 256 GB variant. That is to say: with equal memory, the difference between both models is barely 50 euros. And, if you allow me the advice, it’s worth making that investment in exchange for 5G, a better screen and, above all, a more capable chip.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G: a Poco X6 with a 200 megapixel camera
The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is, in essence, a Poco X6 with a 200 megapixel main camera. This is, without a doubt, a great starting point, since the Poco X6 is probably one of the best mobile phones that can currently be purchased for less than 400 euros.
So which of the two to buy? The answer is summarized in the following:
- The Poco X6 goes on sale for 299 euros in its version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G costs 379 euros in its version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. A version of the latter is also sold with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for 399 euros.
- The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G hits stores with a more attractive color palette and also with a 200-megapixel camera that promises a significant jump compared to the 64-megapixel sensor of the Poco X6.
Therefore, in those cases where the camera or design is not a decisive factor, the choice is obvious: Poco X6. Otherwise, purchasing the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G does make sense.
Another important factor to consider is that the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G will reach channels such as El Corte Inglés or operators, where payment in installments for the device is facilitated, which can work in your favor in the battle with the Poco X6.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: the most advanced version of the family
The conclusion set out in the previous section also applies here. Only, in this case, the protagonists are the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G and the Poco X6 Pro.
The Poco model is a better buy than the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G in most scenarios. It has a more powerful processor –Dimensity 7200 Ultra vs Dimensity 8300 Ultra– and, in addition, it is noticeably cheaper. The Redmi, on the other hand, has a more promising main camera, a slightly curved screen, even faster charging (120 W), a more striking color palette and easier financing due to the places in which it will be used. market.
Therefore, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is only the best choice if the camera, color palette, charging speed or financing is essential. Otherwise, the Poco X6 Pro is undoubtedly a better option. The good thing, in Xiaomi’s eyes, is that things always stay at home.
