Star fox zero came to the Wii U five years ago, with a series of mixed responses. Nevertheless, there are people who want to see this title on the Switch, perhaps with access to a more traditional controls scheme. Within this group is Atsushi Inaba, head of PlatinumGames, the studio that co-developed this installment.
In a recent talk with VGC, Inaba mentioned that she would love to see Star fox zero on the Nintendo Switchas it doesn’t consider it fair for a game to be inaccessible just because people don’t have a certain platform. However, the final decision rests with Nintendo. This was what was commented on the matter:
“It is unfortunate that people cannot play some older games because they cannot access the platform, so of course, if possible, we would like to bring any of those older titles to the newer platforms. It depends on what is in the realm of real possibility, but yes, if the opportunity arises, it is definitely something we would like to think about.
The important thing to remember is that because it is Nintendo’s IP, the ideas come from Miyamoto-san himself. We have to respect what Miyamoto-san wants to do. Of course, at the time there was a lot of discussion between Platinum and Nintendo, but if the opportunity arose to bring Star Fox Zero to the Switch again, it would be more a question of what he would like to do at that time and of course we would respect him again. “
Carry Star fox zero to the Switch is not only a matter of a simple yes or no, since PlatinumGames wishes to preserve the vision of Shigeru Miyamoto, which means that the control scheme, one of the most criticized points of the game, would have to be respected, and this is something difficult to achieve without the Wii U Gamepad, although not impossible.
