In the same Twitter thread where she announced her resignation, Gan noted that she is satisfied with her achievements during her tenure, as she highlighted that OnlyFans paid 10 billion dollars to its content creators; entered the list of the Fastest Growing European Companies twice; increased expansion of OnlyFans; and implemented the security and transparency center.
He stressed that OnlyFans is in the “exceptional hands” of his friend and colleague Keily Blair.
On the other hand, he also shared that the cause of his resignation is because he will go in search of other opportunities, including the launch of a new company: Hoxton Projects.
“Hoxton Projects reinvents the agency paradigm to support founders and growing companies on how to better communicate and market their purpose and competitive advantage,” he tweeted.
For her part, Kaily Blair has experience as a lawyer and business executive. She previously led OnlyFans’ trust and safety operations and was responsible for developing, executing, and communicating OnlyFans’ strategic initiatives and future goals to users, business partners, and other key stakeholders.
“I am delighted to assume the role of CEO at such an exciting time for the company,” Blair said in a statement.
“OnlyFans is only successful when the creators are successful. Our mission is to make OnlyFans the platform of choice for a wide range of creators and fans around the world. I will continue to put our creators at the center of every business decision and provide them with an inclusive, secure, and innovative platform to connect with their fans and monetize their content,” he concluded.
The OnlyFans business model
OnlyFans is a London-based content subscription service founded by Tim Stokely in 2016.
This is a platform where content creators can earn income from users subscribed to their profile, called “fans”, either with a monthly subscription, one-time payment or pay per view.
Although the service can host content creators such as chefs, sports experts, musicians, makeup artists, and other types of creators, it has become popular with creators of sexual content.
onlyfans has been criticized for harboring child sexual abuse material . BBC published a documentary and report d where they mention that people up to 14 years old sold sexual content on this platform.
Given this, credit card companies began to press to promote a campaign where OnlyFans would prohibit the publication of sexual content within their platform. For this reason, they announced that this type of content would be prohibited as of October 1, 2021, however, the decision was reversed six days after the announcement.
Currently, OnlyFans is valued at 18,000 million dollars (eight times more than in 2020) and has 190 million users, of which 2.1 million are creators.
