It seems that OnePlus is not doing well at all with its new pricing strategy. Year after year the company has done nothing but raise the prices of its devices with each new launch. Now they confirm that they will return to the cheapest terminals, something that they already tried a while ago and that, it seems, did very well. Today we can talk again about the mid-range OnePlus, a device that was going to be presented in June or July, but that will finally be released later.
OnePlus needs a boost that could be given by the mid-range
We don’t know the company’s sales for the latest OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, but they may not be very good. The rise in prices may be causing other companies such as realme or Xiaomi to get those users who previously bet on OnePlus to buy a high-end.
Now that premium mid-ranges are in vogue the company could jump into the pool again. The OnePlus 8 Lite or OnePlus Z will not be released before summer. The CEO of the company has confirmed that the device will arrive at the end of the year. We do not know if he will share a presentation with the OnePlus 8T or have a separate event to show it exclusively.
The company is looking to diversify its products, but the launch of a cheaper-than-normal mid-range has a simple explanation: high-end sales may have been falling for months. The OnePlus are still recommended devices, but they are no longer the cheap high-end of a few years ago. With the latest launch, the company has joined the club for 1,000 euros, a strategy that could be coming out regularly.
Users who were expecting the OnePlus mid-range for a few weeks may forget about the plan. This very interesting and mysterious device will probably make an appearance in the fourth quarter of the year.
