With the end of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi finally available on Disney+, the original plans for this project have recently been revealed. At first, not only was it planned to create a trilogy of films starring Ewan McGregor, but Reva’s fate was going to be quite different from the one we saw on the streaming platform.
According to Stuart Beattie, screenwriter of Obi-Wan Kenobi who worked on the project as a movie trilogy in mind, Reva’s fate was going to be different. In her version, the Third Sister fails to redeem herself in front of Obi-Wan on Tatooine, instead, he sacrifices himself to protect the Jedi from Darth Vader. This was what the writer commented:
“We are always faced with the fact that Obi-Wan could never kill Darth Vader. So he needed to defeat someone. And then Reva was my attempt to hit [Obi-Wan] someone to defeat or someone to save, because he’s not going to save Darth. Darth Vader’s story is going to end in a depressing way, so he wanted to save someone and that’s why I created Reva.
I thought, ‘How would she know that this thing in a mech suit everyone calls Darth Vader is the guy who killed her or tried to kill her?’ So, it was Obi-Wan who told her that secret and that revelation of hers that makes her go, ‘Oh my God, I’ve been wrong all this time.’ And so she goes and basically saves Kenobi by sacrificing herself and telling Vader, ‘I killed Kenobi.’ And then Vader kills her, [con ella] knowing that Vader would kill her.
This completed his arc. So, a little bit different that she was, yes, absolutely, the Inquisitor who was after Kenobi all the time and was driven by her own personal demons.”
In this way, it is clear that the idea of redeeming Reva at the end of the adventure was always in mind. However, the big change is that, in the original version, the Inquisitor did not know about the true identity of Darth Vaderand his grudge wasn’t directed at Anakin Skywalker, but at Obi-Wan, a modification that makes sense when turning the movie into a series.

Editor’s note:
One of the main problems with Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Reva specifically, is that his character feels very similar to the Second Sister in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The motivations and the outcome of these two characters are similar.
