After long wait, NVIDIA has presented its new Ada Lovelace architecture and the first two GPUs to take advantage of it: the GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080. The company promises a “quantum leap” in performance hand in hand with graphics, taking advantage of the latest generation technology that powers them.
The GeForce RTX 4090 already has a confirmed release date, and we won’t have to wait long to see it in action. It will be available from next October 12, in exchange for $1,599. NVIDIA has also announced the price of the GeForce RTX 4080, which will be marketed for $1,199 in its most powerful version, although it still does not have a specific date defined for its arrival to the public; It has only been mentioned that it will arrive in November.
NVIDIA claims that the GeForce RTX 4090 is the most powerful GPU in the world. According to its technical characteristics, it incorporates 76,000 million transistors, 16,384 CUDA cores and an impressive 24 GB of GDDR6X RAM. Hand in hand with these specifications, it promises a formidable performance leap compared to what were hitherto the company’s flagship models.
in games with ray tracing “full”, NVIDIA ensures that the GeForce RTX 4090 with the new dlss 3 it is four times faster than a 3090 Ti with DLSS 2. It even ensures that in most modern games it doubles the performance of said graphics card and, most importantly, without consuming more energy.
NVIDIA takes a new leap in quality with the GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080
In the case of the GeForce RTX 4080, NVIDIA has chosen to launch it in two configurations: one with 12 GB of RAM and the other with 16 GB. As in the top-of-the-line model, the memory in both variants is GDDR6X, and the Californians assure that it will be able to offer twice the performance than a 3080 Ti, thanks to DLSS 3. But that’s not all, since they also trust that it can outperform a 3090 Ti at lower power.
They are very ambitious promises, of course, and we have to wait for the GPUs to reach the hands of users to see the final results. But what has been seen so far is really interesting. As we mentioned at the beginning, the RTX 4080 with 16 GB of RAM will be available for $1,199 as of November; while the 12 GB will be available for $899.
NVIDIA has listed several of the other improvements coming with the new GeForce RTX 4090 and 80 GPUs, powered by the Ada Lovelace architecture. Among them stands out the new chip developed by TSMC using its four-nanometer process, which promises to double its energy efficiency; as well as the adoption of third and fourth generation RT and Tensor cores, respectively.
Goodbye to EVGA
One of the great controversies of the last weekend was the announcement of EVGAone of the leading manufacturers of GeForce RTX GPUs, who decided to stop working with NVIDIA. The company cited a “lack of respect” on the part of those led by Jensen Huang, to the point that it preferred to cut ties and lose the source of 78% of its income.
Logically, this means that buyers will not be able to find the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080 under the EVGA brand. Although those from ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, Galaxy, GIGABYTE and MSI, among others, will be available, in addition to the Founders Editions developed by NVIDIA itself.
