Although it seems that the fever for NFTs and blockchain in video games is staying in the past, there are still some people who are betting on this trend. One of these is an analyst, who has pointed out that NPCs of games should be run by “poor” people.
Recently, Mikhai Kossar, Wolves DAO’s blockchain and gaming consultant, issued a statement, stating that to reduce development costs, poor people should be hired to play the NPCs in the games. This was what he commented:
“With cheap labor from a developing country, you could use people from the Philippines as NPCs, real-life NPCs in your game. They could populate the world, maybe do some random work or just walk around, fish, tell stories, be merchants…anything is really possible.”
Although this seems an idea far from reality, it is worth mentioning a case of Critterzan NFT game similar to Minecraft, where a user paid minors from the Philippines to collect money for a casino. Undoubtedly, these two cases sound like something completely absurd, and call into question the ethics of those involved.
In related topics, Phil Spencer reveals his position on NFTs. Similarly, the most expensive Pokémon card has become an NFT.
Editor’s note:
Unless Nathan Fielder is the person advising an NFT company, all such proposals must stop at this point. The idea of using people as NPCs is bad enough, but adding the concept of “poor” people makes it worse.
