The union notified Newmont of a strike to demand an increase from 10% to 20% provided for in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Newmont suspended operations at its Peñasquito mine in Mexico in response to a notice of a work stoppage, the US-based gold miner, the world’s largest, said Thursday.
On June 7, the union notified Newmont of a strike to demand a 10% to 20% increase in profit with no profit-sharing cap, provided for in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the company reported.
The company added that it remains willing to participate in conciliation meetings to reach a resolution in accordance with the CBA.
