Before representatives of the construction industry chain, Netzahualcóyotl Salvatierra presented the bases to build a joint strategic agenda, in the face of the change of presidency in the Confederation of Chambers of Industrialists (Concamin).
It will be at the end of September when it will be announced who will occupy the highest position in said organization, after the affiliates indicate who they consider the most appropriate profile.
Among the names to choose is that of Salvatierra López, former president of the National Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), who during his presentation focused on four approaches: regional, sectorial, business and institutional.
The first two of them, with the aim of considering the particularities of each latitude of the country, as well as the development niches of the steel, restaurant and housing industries, to name a few.
Meanwhile, as for the business part, he explained that “98% of the firms that make up Concamin are small and medium-sized, therefore, the steps to be taken must take their needs as a basis, as well as those of the other 2% made up of by larger companies ”.
“Today it is essential that the strategic agenda that we draw up clearly delimits the concurrence of the various representations to move forward in a coordinated manner,” he added.
In turn, Netzahualcóyotl Salvatierra explained that the political context is fundamental, which is why he included a mapping of the composition of the Union Congress and changes of command at the state level, in order to create alliances and maintain constant dialogue with all levels of government.
In this sense, he explained the need to implement an industrial policy in Mexico, when observing the changes that took place in the Chinese economy, which before its launch had growth rates similar to the national ones, but which as of 1995 stood out.
“The objective is to generate competitiveness and better development conditions based on infrastructure. Given this, we cannot forget that construction is the third largest generator of employment in the country and the fifth largest contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with around of 7.4% per year, however, last year registered its worst fall in 17 years, which is why extraordinary efforts are required to overcome the challenges and reactivate investment in both public and private works, “he said.
