However, the platform’s efforts may go beyond episodes of content. According to a report from The Illuminerdi, a source whose history of leaks has several hits on future productions, Netflix is also preparing a movie of Pokemon.
This feature film, in addition, I would also bet on him live action, so we are talking about projects that would complement each other. Nevertheless, The Illuminerdi clarifies that Netflix’s production has nothing to do with Detective Pikachu, the first proposal live action of the franchise that saw the light in 2019. Thus, the service would propose a completely new story to have more creative freedom. Of course, respecting the guidelines of The Pokémon Company.
Unfortunately, there are no further details on the film. In fact, information about the series is also scarce. Variety noted that the project will be led by Joe henderson, who will be responsible for the script and will serve as executive producer. We know Henderson for his participation in productions such as White Collar, Graceland, Almost Human and, mainly, by Lucifer.
The same report anticipated that the series live action from Pokemon it is still in an early stage of development; so we probably won’t have any official news anytime soon. Of course, the same delay will occur with the movie.
The potential of Pokemon in productions live action
Bet on another film live action from Pokemon makes a lot of sense, especially because of the success of Detective Pikachu. While the Warner Bros. production didn’t promise much at first, it turned out to be very entertaining in the end. In the international box office it also triumphed, entering little more $ 431 million. This figure allowed it to sneak into the most successful video game-based movies in history.
But while we wait for the supposed launch of both Netflix content, fans of Pokemon they will be able to entertain themselves with some of the new games that are coming. On November 19 they will make their debut Shiny Diamond Pokémon and Shimmering Pearl Pokémon for Nintendo Switch. Later, on January 28, 2022, it will arrive Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which could mark a before and after for the franchise thanks to its open world.
