The company indicated that it will seek to add the plan with advertisements in providers that add access to the platform as part of a package when contracting their service.
It is worth mentioning that in the markets where this plan is already available, it reported a growth close to 70%; Furthermore, the strategy of eliminating the possibility of sharing passwords between different users has been effective for Netflix, because although it initially faced strong criticism, it has allowed it to increase the number of users worldwide.
Despite these measures, Netflix reported a 10.8% growth in the number of subscribers compared to the third quarter of 2022. Currently, the streaming company has 247.15 million users who pay to consume content on the platform.
In countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and France, the company announced a price increase. The $9.99 basic plan will go up to $11.99. The Premium, which costs $19.99, will rise to $22.99, while the ad-supported plan will remain at $6.99.
“As we offer more value to our members, we occasionally ask them to pay a little more. “Our starting price is extremely competitive with other streamers and, for example, $6.99 per month in the US is much less than the average price of a single movie ticket,” the company said in the letter to shareholders.
