Although less than 1% of users of Netflix make use of the games that are on the platform, the company is not giving up on its plans to offer 50 unique titles to all its subscribers. Thus, it was recently revealed the implementation of a series of basic features that are finally available in the service.
According to Steve Moser, “Game Handles” is currently available on Netflix. These are simply the username that we choose to introduce us in the games, something extremely basic that, for some reason, was not available from the beginning. However, currently only Into the Breach, Mahjong Solitaire Y Heads Up! are compatible with this feature, and it is unknown when more titles will have support for “Game Handles”.
Along with this, data miners have discovered the ability to view leaderboards and invite friends to games, something that, although not currently available, could be implemented in the coming months. In this regard, Kumiko Hidaka, representative of Netflix, pointed out that the “Game Handles” were introduced last month, and commented on the following:
“We are always looking to improve our members’ experience on the service, and are exploring different features to enrich the Netflix mobile gaming experience. We have nothing else to share at this time.”
At the moment it is unknown when we will see the score boards and the ability to invite friends to certain games implemented. However, considering that these are basic options everywhere, it is very likely that we will see this soon. On related topics, these are the anime coming to Netflix in September. Similarly, this is what the subscription with commercials would cost.
Editor’s note:
It is very strange that something as simple as usernames was not available from the start. However, it is even more strange that this feature was available since last month, and nobody knew about it until a couple of days ago. Considering that less than 1% of users play games, this shouldn’t be much of a surprise really.
