Although many may not like the work of Goichi Suda, better known as Suda51, and the study Grasshopper Manufacture, no one can deny the style and originality that is generated in this team. Now in an unexpected twist It has been revealed that this group will now be part of NetEase, the Chinese company.
Yesterday, October 21, it was announced that Grasshopper Manufacture is no longer part of GungHo Online Entertainment, since NetEase acquired this study through a contract that was signed on May 31. Here’s what Suda51, CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture, had to say about it:
“NetEase Games understands the strengths of Grasshopper Manufacture Inc. and is willing to support us, and is an extremely reliable partner. NetEase Games will be primarily responsible for advising on our business planning activities and providing sufficient funding for game development. We will be responsible for creativity and game production to ensure that we can continue to maintain the consistent “Grasshopper Manufacture flavor” and quality of play for which we are known. In addition, we will also receive strong support from the NetEase team of thousands of artists and technical experts in terms of game design and quality assurance. We will make the most of this support and strive to offer three higher quality ‘Grasshopper Manufacture Games’ to all players over the next ten years. “
Recall that several reports have indicated that Toshihiro Nagoshi, former SEGA producer and who directed the Yakuza series for a long time, is also in talks to join NetEase, although this has not been confirmed. In this way, it is clear that the Chinese company is focused on hiring unique creative minds.

Editor’s Note:
Although NetEase can provide the necessary resources for Suda51 and other developers to create different experiences, the question will be how many of these projects will be for the mobile market and if they will be available globally.
