Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the National Guard will be present in the Metro starting today.
The President of Mexico defended the morenista, pointing out that it was a sabotage for his government.
The Transportation System has suffered in recent days at least three “abnormal” incidents.
The Head of Government of Mexico City announced today at a press conference at the National Palace that, starting at 2:00 p.m. today, the National Guard will be present at all stations of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Subway.
This decision was made because in recent days there have been accidents and complications in transport operations that presumably would have to do with a budget reduction and a lack of maintenance.
National Guard will also take care of the Metro for “sabotage” to Sheinbaum
During the “La Mañanera” press conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) gave the floor to Claudia Sheinbaum and spoke about the accident last Saturday on the section between La Raza and Tlatelolco towards Indios Verdes, an event that registered more than 100 injured and so far a young woman who lost her life.
As a result of this, the President pointed out that it has been a sabotage towards the corcholata of Morena. However, the Head of Government was present to clarify all the doubts surrounding this accident and the situation of the transport budget.
“There has been a lot of information that is not true that the budget for the Mexico City Metro has been reduced,” said the Head of Government. “This year the Metro has close to 20 billion pesos, 19 thousand 700 million pesos, above the 2022 budget of 18 thousand 800 million pesos. In 2020 and 2021 they see that it had a lower budget, but due to the pandemic the number of subway users decreased by more than half, practically a quarter”.
