It is important to note, The “Made in Mexico” logo was created by the Mexican designer Omar Arroyo Arriaga, within the now defunct Mexican Institute of Foreign Trade (IMCE)..
The outline of this symbol has consisted, since its creation, of an eagle head framed with the legend “Made in Mexico.” At the beginning the legend was written in Helvetica or Futura media font.
First modifications
However, in 2004 and during the government of Felipe Calderón, modifications were made to the logo that authorized two different versions of the emblem..
One of them would have the eagle’s head facing to the right (instead of to the left, as in the original). Likewise, the drawing of the bird presented a slight cut in its feathers.
This design was accompanied by a black box that framed the “MX” name. While the legend “Made in Mexico” would be placed below these elements.
On the other hand, an “extended” version of the logo was designed, in which the phrase “Make sure it is Made in Mexico”. This was intended to make reference to the previous campaigns of the National Advertising Council, which urged people to consume products made in the country.
By then, it would be the Mexican designer Christian Soria who would give a new identity to this distinctive.
New modifications to the “Made in Mexico” logo
However, in 2009, during the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, the emblem was modified again. For this version, which remains to this day, the design of the eagle’s plumage would change and the lower part of the bird’s beak would be added again.
The head was once again inside a frame with the legend “Made in Mexico.”
This was the way in which the logo was created, which embodies one of the strategies of the Mexican government that promotes the acquisition of national goods and services, in order to give greater dynamism to the national economy.
