The United States is taking the issue of UFOs. After the Pentagon presented the first report on unidentified aerial phenomena, the POT announced that he will examine them scientifically. The US agency said will create an independent team to study events in the sky that cannot be associated with aircraft or known natural phenomena.
According to NASA, the study of UFOs are of interest to national and air security. However, there is not enough information to determine its origin. Agency officials said that so far there is no evidence to ensure that they are of extraterrestrial origin. The main limitation is that there are not enough sightings to draw scientific conclusions.
“Given the paucity of observations, our first task is simply to collect the most robust data set we can,” said David Spergel, team leader. Spergel, who served as chairman of the department of astrophysics at Princeton University, will team up with Daniel Evans, a researcher in NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.
“We will identify what data — from civilians, governments, nonprofits, businesses — exists, what else we should try to collect, and how best to analyze it.” Spergel said. The NASA team is not part of the task force created by the Department of Defense. Despite this, it will coordinate with the government to apply the tools in order to know more about UFOs.
NASA wants to discover the scientific explanation of UFOs
In the last report presented to the United States Congress, The Pentagon assured that it registered more than 400 unidentified aerial phenomena. Andre Carson, chairman of the House intelligence subcommittee, said that while the events are unexplained, UFOs are real. Carson is committed to investigating the origin, so the creation of a NASA task force comes at the perfect time.
NASA associate administrator for science Thomas Zurbuchen said they have access to a wide range of observations of Earth from space. “We have the tools and the equipment that can help us improve our understanding of the unknown. That is the very definition of what science is. That is what we do,” he mentioned.
The NASA is considering all possibilities, including flying objects from other planets. The announcement mentioned the astrobiology program that focuses on study life beyond Earth. This program is in charge of research on the existence of water on Mars and other celestial bodies, such as Titan or Europa.
The study will last for nine months and will be supported by experts in science, aeronautics and data analysis. Unlike the classified Department of Defense reports, the results of the study of UFOs by NASA will be public.
“In accordance with NASA’s principles of openness, transparency, and scientific integrity, this report will be shared publicly,” said Daniel Evans. “All NASA data is available to the public, and we take that obligation seriously, and we make it easily accessible for anyone to view or study.” he assured
After decades of reports and conspiracy theories from paranormal fanatics, UFOs are back in the spotlight. Unidentified aerial phenomena became relevant after a report was presented detailing sightings and videos of encounters with pilots and members of the United States armed forces.
