The tool is enabled in two banks and a fintech company, so it is expected that in the following months there will be more banks with this function.
Unlike Digital Codes (CoDi), this means of payment is not mandatory, each bank will decide whether to implement it or not, according to the commercial strategy that each institution considers.
“Banking has been working pretty seriously in terms of more banks getting on board. Each bank is going to get on board at their own pace, based on their prioritization, and I’m sure DiMo is going to be an absolute hit in this country.” , said Eduardo Osuna, vice president of the Association of Banks of Mexico and general director of BBVA Mexico, a bank that already has this option enabled.
The manager explained that not all banks are going to implement this means of payment because not all of them offer services to people and that the longer a bank takes to adopt this means of payment, it may lose customers.
“All banks are in the retail Due to the talks we have had, they will end up going up, and it will be a matter of time. And it is a mechanism that will also be bankable, so that bank that joins late will have the capacity to bank more customers,” added Osuna.
