The new Tesla Model 3 Highland is official. The American brand has revealed it silently, simply by updating the official website of the company in Europe. However, official statements are expected to be issued throughout the day.
One of the main novelties of the new Tesla Model 3 Highland – which matches the previously leaked images – are the new headlights. Both the front and rear have been redesigned to give it a more avant-garde aesthetic.
A new range of colors is also welcomed. The multilayer pearl white remains the free option, the black color becomes paid, the blue color remains intact compared to the previous generation and now a new gray color is offered –darker than the previous one– and a red baptized as “Ultra Red”.
In parallel, Tesla introduces two new wheels. Some 18″ Photon that are offered as standard and some 19″ Nova that have an additional cost of 1,600 euros.
Only two versions, both with more autonomy
The new Tesla Model 3 Highland, on the other hand, is available in two versions, at least for now: standard and Long Range. Variant disappears performance that was offered in the previous generation.
Both versions have taken a significant step forward in terms of autonomy. Depending on the selected tires, the figures are as follows:
Tesla Model 3 | Tesla Model 3 Great Autonomy | |
---|---|---|
18″ Photon wheels | 554 | 678 |
19″ Nova wheels | 513 | 629 |
The standard Model 3 of the previous generation, as a reference, did not exceed the 500 km barrier with 18″ wheels (it approved 490 km). The improvement, therefore, is about 60 km. An advance that is also It repeats in the Great Autonomy model, which is close to 700 km – being the Tesla with the most autonomy at the moment.
Part of the improvement in autonomy is due to the improvement of the aerodynamic coefficient of the car, which has gone from 0.225 to 0.219. It could also be due to the use of new batteries, something that has been pointed out multiple times in recent weeks but that Tesla has not disclosed at this time.
What the brand has revealed is the maximum charging speed of both models, which remains intact compared to the previous generation. That is to say: the standard Tesla Model 3 will do so at a maximum of 170 kW, while the Long Autonomy version will be able to reach 250.
Tesla Model 3 Highland: changes in the interior
Inside the new Tesla Model 3 Highland we find multiple changes. The first of these is the disappearance of the gear levers and indicators, which are now integrated into the steering wheel and the main screen, as in the Model S and Model X. Of course: in this case, it is not just about a yoke steering wheel, but a round one.
In the rear, Tesla has now incorporated an 8-inch screen that allows passengers to be entertained while also being able to control the ventilation system, just like we find in the Model X and Model S.
The brand has also implemented customizable ambient lighting, promises a quieter interior thanks to aerodynamic and construction improvements, the speaker system has 3 more, the front seats are ventilated and the trunk is now larger, reaching 594 liters of capacity. .
