Matchday 10 will take place starting next Friday, as confirmed by Mikel Arriola, president of Liga MX.
In an interview with the “Despierta” program, the leader spoke about the reasons why it was decided to continue with the Closing Tournament.
Arriola’s statements have not gone down well with Internet users, who did not fail to express their discontent with the events that occurred on Saturday at the Corregidora Stadium.
Mikel Arriola, president of Liga MX, confirmed that matchday 10 of the Clausura Tournament will be played “normally”.
After what happened last Saturday in the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro match with the current Liga MX champion, Atlas, the rest of Matchday 9, which was to be played yesterday, had to be suspended.
Until Sunday, it was not known what was going to happen with the Clausura 2022 Tournament, although the idea of suspending it was definitely on the table.
This day, Mikel Arriola, in an interview with the Televisa program “Despierta”, confirmed that matchday 10 will be played normallywhich will begin next Friday in Aguascalientes with the meeting between Necaxa and, precisely, Querétaro.
“Yes there will be (Day 10). We solve this problem through sanctions and security reinforcement measures and we continue with our days, with our matches, with all the emphasis on security and very active in asking people to trust football and that we continue with our day and with this World Cup year”, mentioned the leader of Liga MX.
What sanctions and measures will be applied in light of what happened at the Corregidora stadium?

The events of last Saturday at the Corregidora Stadium, home of the Gallos Blancos, have been, by far, one of the worst catastrophes in the history of Mexican soccer.
According to the authorities of the State of Querétaro, the death toll was zero, although what has been shared on social networks speaks of another scenario, contradicting the official version provided by the governor, Mauricio Kuri.
Since the same Saturday, there had been talk that there would be “exemplary” sanctions regarding the Querétaro vs. Atlas and these, according to Arriola’s words, will be released this week.
On the other hand, today it was made official that matchday 10 will be played normally starting next Friday, where one of the protagonists of the court will be Querétaro.
“We have to take care of the source of work for footballers, which is very important […] We have to resolve as football this very week, first the sanctions and then the measures to close the space to these violent groups, and then go ahead with that decision, with the implementation so that this does not happen again. I insist, two things that have to happen this week: exemplary sanctions and having the route very clear”Arriola asserted.
Internet users respond to statements by Mikel Arriola
In the face of the leader’s statements, Internet users have shown their annoyance, because, apparently, they expected another response from the Mexican football authorities, especially when there had been talk of carrying out “exemplary measures”.
What, until now, has been determined that the visiting fans will not have access to the stadium, as is the case in countries like Argentina, where the fans of Boca Juniors and River Plate, the most popular in that country, cannot meet in the same stadium.
Today, after the words issued by Mikel Arriola in the Televisa program, Internet users have not remained silent and are showing their discontent:
Have they already disaffiliated Querétaro?
Is there already a definitive veto on the stadium?
Have the murderers been arrested yet?
Has Mikel Arriola already resigned?
Why doesn’t Governor Kuri answer in front of the media?
Are the powers of Querétaro going to disappear due to ungovernability?

what a shame that @MikelArriolaP He was so concerned about peace in Ukraine and never realized that peace was not guaranteed in Liga MX stadiums… It is more than evident that he is not the right one for that or any other positionhttps://t.co/RaVR2gKCAa

Liga MX president Mikel Arriola has taken a coy stance on the Querétaro issue. Today, he should have announced the complete disappearance of the stadium bars. These criminals must be kicked out of the stands. Why wait for club owners?

Yon de Luisa and Mikel Arriola are puppets of the owners, they are workers of the owners who are going to fix these two characters or puppets.

Mikel Arriola may be a guy with good intentions, but with limited room for maneuver and decision-making power, in addition to being wrong to cluck that he is in Querétaro with the wounded and “helping” in the investigations.
He does NOT decide to continue playing or anything of weight.– Daniel Montes de Oca (@montesdeoca11) March 7, 2022
Without a doubt, the case of the violence in Querétaro has shaken the history of Mexican soccer, an event that transcended and reached international headlines, where the image of Aztec football was damaged by the brutal images.
This week, according to what was declared by the president of Liga MX, it will be known what sanction Querétaro and all those involved in the unfortunate event will receive.
