In fourth position was Argentina, with 6.9 million passengers; Chile, with 6.4 million; Peru, with 5.3 million users, and the Dominican Republic, with 4.6 million.
Mexico also registered one of the largest increases in terms of volume compared to 2019, with 17% more passengers and a growth of 24% compared to the first quarter of last year.
With 99.9% of pre-pandemic traffic recovered by the end of 2022, the Latin American and Caribbean region has remained the region with the highest monthly recovery after the drop in demand due to covid-19, surpassing North America -which was ranked 92% of its 2019 levels–; Middle East, with 95%; Europe, with 83%; Africa, with 90%, and Southeast Asia, with 78%.
The region recovered since September 2022 when it reached 101% of its 2019 levels. Last year, close to 330.5 million passengers were transported in the region and, accumulated, the region consolidated at 9% below their levels 2019.
