Coca-Cola is one of the brands with the most presence in the world, and Japan boasts of being one of the countries where it has the most presence.
Vending machines in Japan are famous for their unique and quirky designs.
Users have considered that there is a totally different purchasing culture in that country, in contrast to Mexico and Latin America.
Coke It is one of the brands with the greatest global presence, being recognized in fact as one of the best known, along with Google and Apple, however, it is still surprising for the versatility of its videos; in a recent one, a transaction within a 7-eleven in Japan where the extravagant method of payment is surprising.
Many users quickly viralized this video because it contrasts too much with what was seen in the chain’s stores in Mexico and Latin America.
Coca-Cola and the soft drink industry
Coca-Cola is the most successful company in the soft drink industry in the world, being one of the most recognizable brands in the world, while its direct rival is Pepsi.
As everyone knows, the competition between PepsiCo Y Coke is one of the oldest in the food industry. Not only because they are the leaders among the soft drink companies, but because it represents a duel for recognition, but also because of the recognition capacity they have generated.
In other words, in the same way that Adidas and Nike have managed to arouse positive feelings among their customers by using the “preference” of well-known athletes – see the example of Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively-, so Coca-Cola and Pepsi have shown to excel in the soft drink industry. Although it is true that there is one that at least has a certain advantage.
As pointed out Statista, PepsiCo has increased its global net income from US$39.47 billion in 2007 to nearly US$80 billion in 2021.
On the other hand, according to company data, Coca-Cola’s total revenue increased 6.1 percent to Ps. 194 thousand 804 million dollars in the full year of 2021.
Likewise, the company is one of the few that can boast of a large number of followers on all its internet pages in any language, highlighting for example the Japanese sectorwhere it has more than 152 thousand only on Instagram.
What few know is that there are places, for example 7-eleven, where buying Coca-Cola “is not as easy as it seems.”
through a video that has gone viral, a user has shown what it is like to buy a Coca-Cola at a 7-eleven in Japan, a totally different experience.
Apparently the shared process is totally different, involving a vending machine in the process, but not as we know it.
The buyer must take a kind of cardboard with a value of 140 yens, which will be delivered at the checkout. Immediately afterwards, the buyer deposits the money in the box and indicates on a digital screen that he has just purchased a card. The card will be a special one with the brand logo, and with it you can purchase the product by returning to the machine and placing it inside. The equivalent price is 20 pesos per bottle.

The video has reached more than 2 million views, however, many users have considered that it is too much work for a small transaction and they consider that in the rest of the world it is easier, because it is enough to pay and take it.
“In my country I just go and take it from the refrigerator,” comment one. “Thanks to the process of this machine, now I drink Pepsi”, another says. Another, joking about the ‘difficulty’ of the process, comments: “To buy a Coca-Cola you have to get a university degree.”
However, the account is dedicated to showing other vending machines in the Japanese country, for which users have appreciated this kind of content.
