He Marvel Cinematic Universe It already has more than thirty films and almost a dozen series. Therefore, it is increasingly difficult for fans to design a scheme that connects everything. The franchise timeline has become more and more complex. To try to solve it, the company is going to publish an unpublished book, entitled The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline. It will detail the timeline of the saga.
The book will go on sale on October 24. However, Marvel Studios has confirmed that this can already be reserved, at least in bookstores in the United States, to be purchased at the time of its publication. A strategy similar to Scott Lang’s book, which will be available on September 5. In addition, the study has also decided prepare a trailer to announce the new project, almost as if it were another movie or series. And it is that, while the franchise continues to expand, an official version will become more and more necessary so as not to give rise to errors.
“This is the first time we’ve officially presented our timeline. It’s amazing, once everything is exposed, how interconnected and how transparent it really is,” he celebrates. brad winderbaum, one of the executives of the company. even his own Kevin Feige, CEO of Marvel Studios, appears in the trailer of the book to encourage its purchase. “A lot has happened in our movies and series, that’s why it’s so exciting,” suggests the company’s president.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline promises to take a tour of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe from Hombre de Hierro, released in 2008, and up to the most recent releases of the fifth phase. In total, more than forty productions that are related to each other, some very directly and others through subtle nods. “Take every story, every series, every reference to something that has happened in the pastalthough it has not been shown on the screen”, confirms the author of the book, Anthony Breznicán.
Why is Marvel’s timeline problematic?
With the book publication, Marvel intends to solve once and for all the doubts that fans insistently ask about their timeline. And it is that, although it is true that in the origins of the saga everything happened in a very linear way, soon the jumps to the past or the future began to arrive. Captain America the First Avenger It was the fifth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And instead of being set in the present, it was set in World War II. This was followed by others like Captain Mavelset in the 90s.
One of the big problems came, however, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. the film of James Gunn was released in 2017, but unlike every other movie released up to that point and set in the present day, this one followed a different path. Instead of being set in 2017 itself, it was set in 2014, as a direct sequel to the first film. A small temporary jump that already altered things somewhat before everything got out of control with Avengers: Endgame.
The acclaimed tape was released in 2019, but the plot jumped to 2023, since all the years in between were marked by the Lapse. Since that movie, all the ones that have followed have kept that distance slightly in the future with respect to reality.
It is estimated that currently The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set in the year 2025.. But it was not known exactly when the most recent movies and series took place, nor which ones came before or after. With the release of The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline everything is expected to clear up.
