Identifying key trends
“Since we launched LuxuryLab in 2011 we have always sought to anticipate trends. For example, in 2011 we were the first forum to address issues such as social responsibility and sustainability; Also that year we had the director of Facebook as a guest, at a time when luxury brands did not want to have a presence on social networks. In 2016 we anticipated Artificial Intelligence. That year we had an expert in virtual reality and he was already saying how these technologies would impact our lives”.
The impact of LuxuryLab
“For the Mexican luxury market, a forum like LuxuryLab has opened the possibility to educate consumers and brands, creating a community that shows that this sector is investing in Mexico and that we can do things better. This edition we address issues such as cultural appropriation because the idea is that international luxury brands not only work with artisans from the country, but also leave a long-term mark and invest in education by projecting the talent, culture and crafts of our country”.
The scope of Artificial Intelligence
“Artificial Intelligence allows us to better understand customers and, therefore, brands will be able to offer better products to their consumers. On the other hand, I think it will help them maximize their productivity and reduce waste, since it allows them to anticipate what consumers want and produce based on what they are looking for and need. Of course, the human factor will be the differentiator and luxury brands are very clear about it”.
Concepts that currently dominate the luxury industry
“The luxury industry has become more aware of issues like climate change, healthcare and all the things that have become important to us. There is also talk of silent luxurya concept traditionally linked to old money. The series, the platforms streaming and social networks have allowed the democratization of these concepts and that allows there to be a refinement of the luxury market. Similarly, the current context has made it clear that there is no longer tolerance for situations such as discrimination, racism or social and gender inequality. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go and what we want with this forum is to make the luxury industry a reference on all these issues”.

What is Mexico living today?
“Mexico became the fifth most visited country in the world and Mexico City continues to attract investments that are generating quality jobs and giving Mexicans the opportunity to have a better quality of life. Investments are also much more conscious and seek to protect and preserve, rather than just build. Products and services remain exclusive, but more and more opportunities are being given to workers. If we seek diversity we will have better results and society will be better and better”.
