Days ago, the first images of the Lenovo Legion Go, the future portable video game console from the Chinese brand. The biggest surprise was generated on an aesthetic level, without a doubt. After all, it looks like a hybrid between the Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch, with its removable Joy-Con-like controllers. However, Lenovo would have much more ambitious plans for this gadgetsince he would arrive accompanied by some augmented reality glasses.
So it affirms WindowsReport, which has shared another apparent promotional image of the Lenovo Legion Go in which the user is seen using an accessory with these characteristics. If confirmed, it would be a very interesting bet and a differentiating component more than attractive in a sector that is increasingly crowded with competitors.
Details on Lenovo’s augmented reality glasses for the Legion Go are next to none. In fact, the aforementioned media outlet affirms that the company plans to introduce an ecosystem of accessories around your portable console. Which suggests that we could soon learn more additional components intended to expand the playable experience.
The Lenovo Legion Go would arrive with new augmented reality glasses
Let’s note that Lenovo already has experience in the field of smart glasses. At IFA 2022 they presented the Glasses T1, a device focused more on virtual reality than on augmented reality, but whose main use case was gaming and the consumption of multimedia content. Without being revolutionary, they could connect to a Windows PC or any Android device via USB-C.
In addition, the company has experience in the field of augmented reality in the hands of ThinkReality A3. We are talking about glasses focused on two very specific uses: business and industrial. However, the underlying technology could be key to the peripheral that would arrive alongside the Lenovo Legion Go. In fact, in the promotional image in question you can see a cable that connects to the console in the lower left corner, where one of the USB-C ports would be.
Very soon we could have news about the Lenovo Legion Go and its accessories, including these augmented reality glasses. According to WindowsReportthe Chinese brand plans to present its portable console and other associated components at IFA Berlin 2023which will take place from September 1 to 5.
Another competitor for the Steam Deck
Regarding the Lenovo Legion Go itself, not too many details are known about its specification table yet. It is rumored that the device will incorporate an APU Ryzen Z1 from AMD identical —or very similar— to that of the Asus ROG Ally, but there is no data for now. In addition, it is speculated that its screen would be 8 inches. What would be a fact is that it would run Windows 11, following the line of other similar devices that are already on the market.
Beyond its peculiar aesthetics, with controls that detach from the body of the gadget like those of the Nintendo Switch, it would incorporate some interesting details. According to the leaked images, the Lenovo Legion Go would arrive with a wide variety of controls: levers, directional pad, ABXY buttons, triggers, shoulder buttonsprogrammable rear keys and trackpad. But it would also include a mouse wheel to do scrolling.
The latter could be very useful, especially when navigating Windows 11. At least until Microsoft decides to include a mode optimized for this type of console in its operating system.
