Ligue 1 is the competition with the youngest average age of the five major leagues of European football with a figure that reaches 24.8 years, above the Bundesliga, with 25.1 years; Serie A, with 26.2 years; the Premier League, with 26.4 years; and LaLiga, with 27.3 years. Outside of the top five, the podium is completed by the leagues of Slovakia (23.9), Latvia (24) and Denmark (24).
The French competition, which is always under suspicion due to the tyranny of PSG and the low level of the rest of the clubs, is the domestic tournament with the greatest potential for the youth of the players. There have been many great players who have come out of the French country in recent years, such as Lenglet, Upamecano, Kanté, Fofana and a long etcetera..
Away from the major leagues, some such as the Austrian Bundesliga (5th with 24.1 years), the Eredivisie (6th with 24.3 years) or the Jupiler Pro League (14th with 24.7 years) appear in the ranking, where the big clubs have also found some gems in the recent past. The latest most notorious cases are undoubtedly those of Frenkie De Jong Y Matthijs de Ligt, from Ajax Amsterdam to Barcelona and Juventus, respectively.
LaLiga, to the old queue
The Spanish domestic tournament is at the bottom of the average age of the five major leagues with an average of 27.3 years. The youngest teams are Valencia (25.3), Athletic Club (26.1) and FC Barcelona (26.3), while other equipment such as Elche (29.1), Cádiz (28.4) or CA Osasuna (28.3) they leave Spanish football far from the potential of Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga.
LaLiga Santander, in fact, is among the competitions with a higher average age in terms of First Division European football. Only the leagues of San Marino (27.6) and Andorra (28.6) are behind in the ranking. The same happens with LaLiga Smartbank: with an average age of 26.9 years it is in the third to last position, ahead of the Welsh and Maltese leagues.
