Today a PlayStation Studios banner was discovered, where you can clearly see Sam Bridges, star of Death Stranding. In this way, speculations about a possible acquisition of Kojima Productions by Sony began to emerge in the last few hours. However, within this conversation, an insider also assures that The alleged business between Hideo Kojima’s studio and Microsoft, the one that was reported a year ago, is still going on.
In April 2021, a report claimed that Kojima Productions is working on an Xbox exclusive. Although this has not been confirmed, and many surely forgot about this piece of information, Jeff Grubb, a journalist for Venturebeat, has ensured that this contract is still in progress at this time. This is what he commented on it:
“A couple of weeks ago, the Xbox and Kojima deal was still in place.
This is not based on the information you had last year, this is more recent than that. This is still going on.
Does this mean that PlayStation couldn’t have acquired Kojima Productions? Not necessarily”.
Since Death Stranding hit the market in 2019, we have only seen the release of this game on PC as well as the Director’s Cut for PS5. Although it is clear that Kojima is working on something new, we still don’t know what exactly. Not only is this exclusive with Xbox being talked about, but projects related to Silent Hill, wicks, even an anime or manga have been rumored.

Editor’s note:
It would be very interesting to see an Xbox exclusive Kojima work. With the company’s budget, the director would have more freedom to give us a unique experience. Regarding its possible acquisition, let us remember that Bethesda continued to work on PS5 exclusives, even after being part of Xbox Game Studios.
