José Luis Alomia Zegarra, who served as head of the Epidemiology Unit of the Undersecretariat of Prevention and Health Promotion, He was appointed by the governor-elect of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, as state secretary of Health.
This appointment is part of some appointments that the state president made this afternoon as part of the protocol of the change of government that will take place on September 13.
Alomía Zegarra already has experience in the state health sector as he served as Secretary of Health in the Hermosillo city council and was also deputy director of Epidemiological Surveillance of the entity.
The official gained public notoriety after sometimes leading the evening conference on behalf of Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, to report on the progress and achievements of the Covid-19 health emergency.
The former federal official left the General Directorate of Epidemiology on August 15 and was named Ricardo Cortés Alcalá in his place.

To this appointment, is added that of Wendy Briceño, as Secretary of Social Development, Heriberto Aguilar, as Secretary of Infrastructure and Urban Development and Lorenia Valles, as holder of the DIF system.
Álvaro Bracamonte Sierra will be Secretary of the Government; the former mayor of Hermosillo, Célida López will be in charge of the Tourism Secretariat; Olga Armida Grijalva, from the Ministry of Labor; Fátima Rodríguez Mendoza, from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Hydraulic Resources, Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Guillermo Noriega, from the General Comptroller’s Office.
Rodolfo Castro Valdez will be in charge of the State Executive Office.
“We have looked for the best Sonorans available for the task. All of them, first of all, are extremely capable and honest and socially committed and with a high political sensitivity, ”said Durazo Montaño.
“If eventually, in the process of their performance, they were out of compliance with any of these responsibilities, obviously, they would not have the possibility of continuing,” he said.
