Tokyo, Aug 16 (EFE) .- The Government of Japan will evacuate the personnel of its embassy in Kabul and has asked its nationals residing in Afghanistan to leave the country if there is no force majeure to keep them there, after the seizure of power of the Taliban.
The Japanese diplomatic delegation in the Middle Eastern country, made up of more than ten employees, has already left the embassy and is waiting to be evacuated from the territory, according to details published on Monday by the NHK public network.
The Government of Japan is also asking its nationals in Afghanistan to leave the country as soon as possible.
The Japanese authorities are considering evacuating their diplomatic mission and their citizens in a plane that has been used by the United States Government for its evacuations from the Kabul airport, turned into a makeshift diplomatic headquarters where departures are processed and crowded with people trying to run away.
In this regard, more than 60 countries and territories, including the European Union, the United States, Japan and Australia, today published a joint statement urging the relevant actors to facilitate the safe departure of foreigners and Afghans who wish to do so.
“Given the deterioration of the security situation, we support, we are working to ensure and we ask all parties to respect and facilitate the safe and orderly departure of foreign and Afghan nationals who wish to leave the country,” says the text, which asks that roads and border crossings remain open.
“Those in positions of power and authority throughout Afghanistan have a responsibility to protect human life and property, and to immediately restore security and civil order,” adds the letter, in which they offer assistance to the Afghan people, who ” he deserves to live in safety, protection and dignity. ”
The Taliban entered the Afghan capital on Sunday after the flight of President Ashraf Ghani, which precipitated and accelerated evacuation plans that many countries had already put in place in the face of the rapid advance across the country of the political-paramilitary faction after the withdrawal of US troops from the country.
The arrival of the Taliban in the heart of the country, where according to local media they have taken control of the presidential palace and government offices, marks their return to power after 20 years of war and a quarter of a century after they entered Kabul and established a radical and rigorous regime that could resurface.
