At least fourteen people have been injured in the last hours by the passage of typhoon ‘Mindulle’ through the Japanese prefectures of Kanagawa, the most populous in the country, and Ibaraki, where ten and four people have had to be treated, respectively, according to reports the Japanese state chain NHK.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has warned that the storm, which has paralyzed flights and caused flooding on some roads, will continue to hit the Pacific coast of northeast Japan until Saturday morning.
However, experts expect the typhoon to weaken and turn into an extratropical depression as it passes through eastern Japan on Saturday night.
Japan Airlines has canceled more than 100 flights, mainly those linked to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, while some train schedules in the prefecture near the capital and other areas have been seriously affected.
The Samuro River that runs through Isumi, Chiba Prefecture, has overflowed due to heavy rains, prompting local authorities to issue the highest level of warning to residents.
