Through his social networks, the Colombian singer J Balvin has issued an apology after the controversy that his most recent video clip, “Perra”, generated on social networks.
A few weeks ago, J Balvin released his most recent album, JOSE, and from the beginning it has been the subject of controversy and comments on social networks, to such an extent that YouTube made strong decisions.
The Google platform decided to withdraw the video clip – but not the audio – of “Perra”, his most recent single, which has been the cause of the avalanche of criticism towards the singer.
Until yesterday, there had been no response from the Colombian or the record company, but it was through their social networks that, finally, their apology arrived:
“I want to offer my apologies to all the people who were offended, especially women and the black community. That is not part of what I have always expressed. My thing has always been tolerance, love and integration ”, was part of what Balvin mentioned on his Instagram account.
He even mentioned that it was he who decided to withdraw the YouTuber video clip, after seeing the reactions of users on social networks, who described him as “macho” and even “racist.”
The controversy went viral, to the extent that the vice president and foreign minister of Colombia expressed her opinion regarding J Balvin’s song, stating that “It has direct and open sexist, racist, macho and misogynistic expressions that violate women’s rights”.
On the other hand, the Colombian-French writer Florence Thomas also had some words about the new reggaeton singer:
“It is not just a macho thing, it is much more than that; for me that guy deserves jail, for all the fibers of what we have fought for years, decades, women, and not just feminists, to have a minimum of dignity and respect. Jail for JBalvin! “
After this series of statements against him, J Balvin took over his social networks to apologize for what happened.
Undoubtedly, we live in a very complex era, where the media lynching is, many times, more powerful than a legal complaint. Cases like that of J Balvin are the perfect example of the great power that social networks have when it comes to pointing out a media personality.
Now, this type of situation can also be planned as a mere marketing strategy, especially if we consider that, at present, the Colombian is one of the most recognized singers in the world.
In terms of marketing, practically anything can happen, strategies of all kinds can be launched with the aim of, first, making noise and then reaching the audiences.
In the end, the fans of J Balvin have come out in defense of the singer, despite the fact that there is a large community of women who have been offended after the publication of the song in question.
