After the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco) accused several companies of misleading advertising, including Viva Aerobus, the airline assured that it conducts itself with unrestricted adherence to the law, transparency, ethics and integrity.
This morning, the head of Profeco criticized the company for promoting low prices for flights and putting in “very small print, which cannot be seen” that to that price must be added the Airport Use Fee (TUA).
According to the company, advertising adheres to current regulations and includes in the prices of your plane tickets all the corresponding taxes.

Viva Aerobus acknowledged that it does not include in its promotions the TUA and argued that it does so because it is not a tax, but a fee that passengers must pay for the use of the facilities and services of Mexican airports, which is determined by the different airport groups in accordance with the Airport Law and its Regulations.
In this sense, he specified that the TUA is only collected by the airlines through an agreement to be delivered to the airports, so It is possible to break it down from the cost of the plane ticket as it is an independent element of it.
“The above, allows the passenger to know the difference between the cost of their plane ticket, for which Viva Aerobus is responsible, and the payment required to be made for the use of the airport facilities, a rate that does not depend on the airline. For example, the TUA in 2019 represented more than 60% of the cost of the flight reservation ”, he specified.
Regarding the procedure to be initiated by Profeco, Viva Aerobus assures that, always having passengers as a priority, it will collect the corresponding information to respond in a timely manner.
Likewise, it said it was willing to have a constructive dialogue with the authorities.
