After the events that occurred in Avengers: Endgame (Avengers: Endgame) the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs a new arch-villain that connects all the movies and series that are being produced during the fourth phase. Once Thanos has disappeared, it’s obvious: all these superheroes need a new common purpose.
One of the theories that have circulated the most, especially after Disney’s purchase of Fox, is that Kang, the conqueror, it would be the greatest evil power to defeat. Unlike Thanos, your power is significantly greater by having control over time and knowing in advance almost everything that will happen.
The first appearance of Kang It was in the final episode of Loki, where it is revealed that he is the architect behind the Time Variation Agency. There, the character reveals that there are thousands of variants of himself, many are significantly worse than him. But that its existence at the end of time is what limits the reappearance of other versions and a new multiverse war.
Still the character of Silvie decides to kill him. Before die, Kang says “see you soon”. Shortly before the final episode of the first season of the series ends. Now Michael waldron, writer of the series, has revealed some of his thoughts on the possibility that Kang be the next Thanos. He did it during an interview on the podcast The Playlist.
Is Kang the next Thanos?
Trying not to reveal too much, due to the secrecy around the series and movies of Marvel studios, Michael waldron has given some explanations that could point to him being definitely the biggest villain for the next few years. In addition to congratulating Jonathan Majors and the way he played the version of the character we see in Loki.
He’s a great actor and does a great performance. I’m not sure, but you heard it in the series: “If you think I’m evil, just wait until you meet my variants”, so we’ll see.
Marvel studios could solidify to Kang throughout the fourth and fifth? phase of their cinematographic universe with continuous appearances throughout series and films, just as they did with Thanos. At the moment we know that he will be the main villain in Ant-Man 3, which would be released in February 2023 and we will surely see it in other productions.
There are some other feature films in which you will surely have some kind of participation, especially Doctor Strange and the multiverse of madness or the first movie of the Fantastic four. Let’s not forget that Kang, at least in the comics, is a descendant of the father of Reed richards.
In LokiMarvel Studios’ fickle villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) reprises his role as the God of Deception in a new series that takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Kate Herron is directing it and Michael Waldron is the main screenwriter.
