- Instagram replaces IGTV with Instagram TV, a new section for users to develop videos
- This new modality allows, among other things, the creation of visual content of more than one hour in duration
- With Instagram TV, the platform owned by Facebook aims to fight TikTok, which is gaining more and more ground
In a wave of sincerity, Instagram has recognized that IGTV did not work and, for this, it is replacing it with Instagram TV, a new way of creating videos on the platform.
A new attempt to give TikTok competition comes, now, by Instagram, owned by Facebook, with a new – not so new – tool for users to display their creativity and develop new visual content.
Instagram in battle vs TikTok
After the arrival of TikTok in 2016, and the popularity it began to gain thanks to its short videos, Instagram did not want to be left behind and, to compete with it, launched its Reels, a function similar to the one it presented on that occasion, the Chinese social network.
Later, to give users more options to make videos with a longer duration, Instagram introduced IGTV, but, unfortunately, it is recognizing that it did not perform as expected.
The opportunity offered by IGTV was more exclusive in nature, since users had to go directly to the tab of that function to be able to watch them. However, as part of a new strategy, Instagram is removing that tab and now all videos will become part of Instagram TV and, in addition, they will be able to be seen by all users from the feed.
One of the distinctive touches that Instagram TV allows is that users will have the opportunity to develop videos of up to 60 minutes in length, which could represent a great stage for content creators and influencers.
Now, that’s not all, because the videos uploaded to Instagram TV will have important functions, especially for those creators who need to tag locations, other users, among other things.
“We are introducing clippings, filters, people and location tagging for all the videos. We love that our community of creators has adopted video as a key format to tell their stories, entertain and connect with their audiences, and we want to make it even easier to create and discover videos on Instagram ”, is part of what a statement says on the official Instagram blog, which, in turn, was shared on social networks.
Competition for TikTok?
At this point, it is no longer a secret that TikTok has gained ground and, really, Facebook and the other social networks that are presented as the giants in the market are giving it a battle.
A few days ago, as part of a strategy to strike a hit on the Chinese social network, Facebook announced that Instagram Reels would also be available on Mark Zuckerberg’s platform, in order to take advantage of its reach and reach the largest possible audience.
While Facebook remains the leading social network in the market, TikTok continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Recall that recently it announced that it reached the number of one billion monthly active users, an achievement only five years after its founding.
Now Instagram is the platform that is determined not to allow the ByteDance platform to go further or, at least, make it more difficult to do so.
We will see how this new Instagram TV function works, mainly for users who are content creators, because, in itself, it seems to be more focused on them.
