Core inflation, however, remained in line with expectations, increasing 0.30% fortnightly and reaching an annual increase of 8.15%. The core is considered a better parameter to estimate the trajectory of inflation by eliminating the most volatile prices in the economy.
Non-core inflation, for its part, decreased 0.31% fortnightly and registered an annual growth of 4.15%.
Thus, the decrease in the speed with which prices increased in the first half of March is mainly due to the fact that the prices of agricultural products fell 0.47% fortnightly. Energy and government-authorized tariffs also fell 0.18%.
Products and services that increased in price the most
Air transport rose 17.96% between the last fortnight of February and the first of March, being the service that rose the most in price in this period. Lemon follows, with a fortnightly increase of 15.29%.
Restaurants and the like increased their prices 0.56%, packaged tourist services rose 4.86% fortnightly.
The corn tortilla rose again in price nationwide, this time by 0.70% fortnightly.
The ones that dropped the most in price
The price of domestic LP gas fell 2.3% fortnightly, tomato, 4.75%; chicken, 1.13%; the nopales, 14.40%, and the egg, 1.15%.
