From October 1 to 15, the National Electoral Institute (INE) will register individuals or groups who wish to collect about 3 million signatures to request the revocation of the mandate of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
This notice of intention must be addressed to the General Council of the INE and delivered to the offices of the Executive Directorate of Prerogatives and Political Parties, which is located at Calle de Moneda 64, Tlalpan Centro neighborhood or, where appropriate, at the local councils or district of the Institute. Once the electoral body accepts the request, which will be communicated no later than October 29, the collection of signatures will begin from November 1 to December 15.
The collection of support will be done through an app developed by the INE, so they will be trained for its use and there will be a microsite designed for it, and only in 204 municipalities of the country this collection can be done in paper formats.
National and local political parties may not participate in any stage of the process, nor may the Executive, Legislative and Judicial powers, both of the Federation and of the federative entities and municipalities; the dependencies, entities or organisms of the Federal, State or Municipal Public Administration and the organs of the government of Mexico City.
In the event that the support of 3% of the people registered on the Nominal List of Voters is reached, the INE will issue the call on January 12, 2022 for this exercise to take place on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
And for it to be valid, at least 40% of the people registered in the Nominal List must participate and proceed by absolute majority; that is, when more than half of the votes decide whether or not the federal president is revoked.
