“Real labor income per capita had an annual increase of 6.8%, going from 2,880.91 to 3,076.13 pesos between the second quarter of 2022 and the second quarter of 2023. This was accompanied by an annual increase in the number of employed people of 1.1 million”, said the Coneval in a statement.
“This change in labor income represented an approximate increase of 195.22 real pesos compared to the second quarter of 2022,” the agency detailed.
The Coneval added that the lower labor poverty occurs in a context where the monetary value of the food basket grew 8.8% and 9.3% in rural and urban areas respectively, as well as an average inflation of 5.7%.
Chihuahua, Tlaxcala and Durango were the states that had the greatest reduction in working poverty, while Hidalgo, Veracruz and Aguascalientes reported an increase.
The Coneval classifies people with working poverty as those who have a labor income lower than the monetary value of the food basket.
