Several states in the United States have already announced measures to prohibit the voluntary interruption of pregnancy in their territory, after the Supreme Court revoked the right to abortion on Friday.
Missouri first state to curb abortion
The conservative Midwestern state of Missouri became the first US state to ban abortion on Friday, May 24, hours after the Supreme Court ruling struck down decades of constitutional protection of the procedure.
“Missouri just became the first in the country to effectively end abortion,” said state Attorney General Eric Schmitt on Twitter. “This is a monumental day for the sanctity of life.”

What other states could restrict abortion?
The Republican Governor of South Dakota, Kristi Noem, announced that abortion becomes illegal in this northern state of the country, under a so-called “zombie” law that was drafted a while ago so that it would automatically take effect if the Supreme Court changed the jurisprudence.
This law “specifies that, as of today, all abortions are illegal in South Dakota ‘unless a reasonable and proper medical decision establishes that an abortion is necessary to preserve the life of the pregnant woman,'” it states in a release.
Shortly after, the Republican governor of Indiana announced that he will convene the legislature of his state, also in the north of the United States, to rule on the ban on abortion as soon as possible.
