The Swedish furniture brand pointed out that the arrival of Ikea in the region is hand in hand with the Falabella store, after four years of making the alliance known.
The European firm will launch its online sales channel that will have an investment of 600 million dollars and through which the company will reach the entire Chilean territory, as well as Colombia and Peru.
Ikea has focused on its expansion into new markets with the goal of reaching 17 new countries by 2023.
The arrival of iconic brands in countries will always be one of the best news that can be given to consumers. This is the case of Ikea, the Swedish firm, which is dedicated to the manufacture and retail sale of flat-pack furniture, mattresses, electrical appliances and household items and has become popular in various parts of the world, recently announcing its presence in these South American countries.
According to data from Statistical, at the end of fiscal year 2021, between September 2020 and August 2021, Ikea had approximately 500 establishments throughout the world. This represented an increase of just over 50 stores compared to the previous year.
The company has focused on its expansion into new markets with the goal of reaching 17 new countries by 2023. Last year it opened its first stores in Mexico and Slovenia, while in 2022 it plans to also reach Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Oman.
Ikea arrives in South America thanks to Falabella
The information that was released by the brand indicated that the arrival of Ikea in the region is hand in hand with the Falabella store, after four years of making the alliance known.
In the information shared by the brand, it also revealed that this alliance will help develop and operate the first stores in Chile, which are located specifically in the Open Kennedy shopping center, in Las Condes and in Mall Plaza Oeste, in Cerrillos.
Likewise, the European firm will launch its online sales channel that will have an investment of 600 million dollars and through which the company will reach the entire Chilean territory, as well as Colombia and Peru.
Ikea also assures that the main idea is to develop taking advantage of the “know-how, or way of operating the business, of the team of its Sodimac chain”. As it will also implement in Chile, Peru and Colombia a different model from the one it occupies at the international level.
Let us remember that the arrival plan of the Swedish furniture brand in South America has been delayed mainly by the pandemic.
