“Once everything is done, the boy talks to the supervisor who had sold me the premium membership and she tells him that they can’t enter me, which is because ‘his last name is Pastor and the name is on the list of prohibited names and no Costco in the world is allowed to register’”, explains the young man in his video as part of the story in which he remembers what happened when he tried to get a membership to buy some products in the store.
When revealing that they prevented him from a membership, the young man says that it is because the store associates the last name Pastor with the church. Due to this irregularity, the young man suggested that he register with his second last name, a fact that Costo employees denied doing, as they invented that a false name would be created with this, however, he explained in a last video that they finally registered him, omitting his first last name.
Users made various comments, including r46, who wrote that “that would be social class discrimination and I highly doubt that Costco wants to get involved in these massive lawsuits, being an international company.”
Other users responded, arguing that relatives have the same last name and whether they were granted membership, while other users advised them to process the card online.
While TikTok users like Jacob tell their stories of how, due to his last name, they were left without a Costco membership, other users like Mexicanos en China (@mexasenchina, TikTok), have reported on their social networks what you get in China with the Sam’s Club membership.
