Fernando Liu, president of Huawei Cloud Latin America, explained that three years after the company decided to focus on its cloud storage services business has managed to position itself among the five largest suppliers worldwide. In Latin America he is already the third most relevant player.
Now the company will expand its cloud network, through the launch of availability zones in Data Centers, from the first half of 2023. The expansion of its segment of cloud storage services It will also replicate it in Chile with an AZ3 zone and in Colombia with a connection point.
The company of Chinese origin assures that the expansion of its cloud services will make it possible to democratize the service, since small and medium-sized companies will be able to use the cloud at a low cost. “An example is the unicorns in fintech. We can now pay in any store and the terminal is no longer the one provided by the bank, but these companies need to store a lot of information,” Saldaña explained in an interview with the media within the framework of the Huawei Cloud forum. The ‘explosion’ of data in Latin America
The decision to increase its cloud storage services in areas such as Mexico, Chile and Colombia is due to its geographical location of business.
“Our strategy is to support Latin America and expand cloud storage services. What is coming is great news for Mexico, we announce AZ2 and AZ3 (areas where the infrastructure for Data Centers is located), which will be there by 2023. For Chile AZ3 and for Colombia our new POP (connection point) for September 2022. We are here in Latin America and for Latin America”, said the president of Huawei Cloud Latin America.
The new zones for the cloud service in Mexico will be added to the Data Center of Tultitlán, State of Mexico, which Huawei launched in October last year and which will focus on the demand of the education, medicine, retail and internet in the country, since they are the markets that most require this type of technology to speed up their business and to support their information.
“Our vision (as a company) is to enable every person and organization to connect intelligently. Particularly, from our division, we take care of the infrastructure, storage, redundancy and security so that (companies) do not have to build a data center”, Liu assured at the Huawei Cloud Latam Summit 2022 forum.
According to the IDC consultancy, the cloud storage services market will have a market value of 338.3 billion dollars by 2025. Today it is led globally by companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, AliCloud, IBM, Tencent , Huawei and Oracle.
