Although in recent days things between China and the United States have improved, there is currently no official information indicating that the US will lift the veto on Huawei in November, although it is believed that in the end, it will be. However, the company would already be preparing a new plan for its phones, which are one of the most affected in this trade war.
And it is that as reported in Huawei Advisor, the Chinese company would be considering installing two operating systems on their new phones. On the one hand, we would be talking about Harmony OS, and on the other, it would be Android, however, this would not only apply to models that come out in 2020 but even to all those that are already being used in the market.
That would not imply that users who currently have Android on their Huawei phones will lose it, or that they may lose Google Apps, but will have the option to switch between Android and Harmony OS at any time.
All this makes much more sense in new phones because if the Mate 30 no longer includes Google Apps, it is likely that no 2020 release will include them, especially if things with the United States remain as until now. This way users can choose which operating system to use when turning on the device.
Harmony OS is not ready to replace Android
We do not doubt that Huawei has plans to replace Android with Harmony OS at some point in the future, especially with its current situation, but it is a fact that this will not happen in 2020.
And is that at the time the CEO of the mobile division of Huawei, Richard Yu, mentioned that Harmony OS could be ready very soon, however, the CEO and founder of Huawei, Ren Zhengfei made it clear recently that it would take approximately 2 and 3 years to have Harmony OS ready for smartphones, because if they wanted to compete against Android and iOS they would need a robust ecosystem of applications, and that takes time and money.
Even with this, Huawei does not want people to forget Harmony OS for the next few years, and this would be the reason why we could see phones with the Huawei operating system from the following year, although that is why we do not have to give up to Android, or at least to Android without Google Apps.
